Abstract

The document analyzes the incidence of preventive devices in the safety culture of workers at a mining site in the Valparaíso region (Chile). With a mixed methodology, the opinions collected in interviews are reviewed and combined with those collected from a questionnaire, on the preventive devices of the risks present in mining operations. Four artifacts are analyzed: the Joint Committee on Hygiene and Safety, the Operational Talk, the Task Risk Analysis and the Green Card. The results reveals that all have a great influence on the preventive culture. It is concluded that there are differences, since the Joint Committee on Hygiene and Safety and the Operational Talks have practical effectiveness, while the Risk Analysis of the Task and the Green Card, have an effective more symbolic than practical.
