Abstract

To improve the stability and safety of hybrid renewable systems, this paper presents a peaking shaving strategy. Objective function for the strategy is the minimum of residual load variance. To solve this problem, a Modified Differential Evolution (MDE) algorithm with new mutation strategies has been developed. Not only does it balance exploitation and exploration for traditional differential evolution, but also it can accelerate the convergence speed and enhance the global searching ability. The MDE has been tested in a micro-grid system and it turn out to be effective in peak shaving.
