EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL PARA O ECOSSISTEMA MANGUEZAL: O PAPEL DOS PESCADORES ARTESANAIS

Abstract

Resumo. Os bosques de mangue constituem considerável patrimônio nos aspectos socioeconômico e ecológico, sendo importante fonte de alimento e sustento de comunidades litorâneas de pescadores arte-sanais. A biodiversidade deste ecossistema está sendo alterada pela ação antrópica especialmente pelo desmatamento, disposição inadequada de resíduos e pesca predatória. Dessa forma, o presente estudo teve como objetivo conhecer a percepção ambiental dos pescadores artesanais de duas áreas pesqueiras no município de Acaraú-CE sobre o ecossistema manguezal. Para isso de Agosto a Outubro de 2013, 10 questionários composto de 25 perguntas foram aplicados para os pescadores artesanais em cada uma das duas áreas de estudo. As entrevistas foram realizadas após a chegada dos pescadores do mar e a coleta de dados aconteceu individualmente. Foi constatado que os pescadores apresentam percepções ambientais distintas em resposta à identidade cultural que apresentam com a área onde realizam suas atividades. A fim de garantir o uso sustentável do ecossistema manguezal no estuário do rio Acaraú, as ações de Educação Ambiental devem ser contínuas e realizadas em parceria entre associações de pescadores e os órgãos ambientais competentes. Palavras-chaves: Impacto ambiental. Mangue. Pesca artesanal. Abstract. The mangroves forests constitute considerable heritage in the socioeconomic and ecological aspects. Furthermore, they are an important source of food and sustenance for coastal fishing communities. The biodiversity of this ecosystem is being altered by human activities especially by deforestation, improper disposal of waste and overfishing. In this way, this paper aimed to assess the environmental perception of artisanal fishermen from two fishing communities about the mangrove ecosystem. These two fishing communities are located in the city of Acaraú, state of Ceará. To collect this information, ten questionnaires containing twenty-five questions were applied to artisanal fishermen from august to octo-ber of 2013 in both areas of this study. The interviews were conducted after the arrival of the fishermen from the sea, and the data were collected individually. After analyze the data, it was found that fishermen have different environmental perception in response to their cultural identity and the area where they develop their activities. In order to ensure the sustainable use of the mangrove ecosystem present in the estuary of the Acaraú River, environmental education actions must be continuously carried out through partnership between fishermen's associations and relevant environmental authorities.
