Abstract

The growth of electronic commerce has driven the demand for logistics services in Peru, and until 2020 the growth rate of logistics companies was 29% on average per year, generating the existence of 753 formal companies of the of which 99.5% were classified as SMEs. However, starting in 2021, the slowdown in electronic commerce plus the productivity problems that these types of companies present has generated a disadvantageous situation which can be observed through the zero growth rate of this type of companies and in the time they remain in the market, since currently only 10% of companies created exceed ten months of operation. The low levels of productivity and low perception of the quality of service of logistics companies, which affects their profitability, have made it difficult to implement suitable processes based on methodologies that allow them to improve this performance, as well as existing models such as digital transformation, which is essential to boost productivity, they cannot be adapted to this type of companies since they are currently aimed at consolidated companies with a significant degree of cultural development. Therefore, the need arises to design a digital transformation model that drives SMEs in the logistics sector, that allows them to increase the efficiency of operational processes and that makes it easier for them to adapt to the opportunities offered by digital sales channels, thus developing a new business model and contribute to its profitability in the short term.
