Abstract

Panchromatic sensitizers: A series of ruthenium(II) compounds was prepared that contain three thiocyanate ligands and a novel chelating terpyridine ligand. The latter (see picture: colors indicate orbital occupation) serves as an effective and versatile light-harvesting auxochrome. One compound has a solar conversion efficiency of up to 10.3%. © 2011 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
