Abstract

Acute mitral regurgitation (MR) differs significantly from chronic MR. These differences are not only in pathophysiology and clinical features, but more important, in prognosis and treatment. Hence it is imperative that these differences be kept in mind so that early diagnosis and prompt management of this acute condition can be accomplished.
