Abstract

Male Dunnocks are shown to have a very complex song structure. It is quite usualfor a bird to use song phrases copied from neighbouring males, and continue to use them (with modification) over subsequent years. In this way, particular song phrases can persist over several generations of Dunnocks. © 1983 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
