Problematika Pembelajaran Matematika Kelas X

Abstract

Mathematics plays an important role in human life, especially in improving thinking abilities. An effective mathematics teacher must be able to provide a solid foundation of knowledge, develop deep understanding, and motivate and actively participate in learning. However, mathematics performance in many schools still falls short of expectations, despite government efforts through curriculum reviews, teacher training and improved learning opportunities. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach and was conducted at SMA N 3 Sungai Banyak in the even period of the 2022/2023 academic year and involved 26 Class XD students. Information is collected through written tests, student surveys, and teacher interviews. The results of the analysis show that 65% of students have a "fair" attitude towards mathematics, which indicates students' low interest in this subject. The problems with mathematics learning are immature understanding of concepts, inefficient use of the learning environment, and application of learning methods that do not suit student characteristics. The proposed solutions include scaffolding to improve understanding of concepts, the use of contextual and digital media, as well as learning methods adapted to student characteristics.
