The chapter gives an overview of the studies on basic values (S.H. Schwartz) in post-socialist Estonia. Change of basic values has been described on different levels—single value items, ten value types or two higher-order value dimensions—and in different population groups. Our original analysis is based on the empirical data from the European Social Survey (2004–2014), and comparisons are made between different birth cohorts in ethnic majority and minority groups concerning the dynamics of higher-order value dimensions. The analytical overview of value change enables us to arrive at a new level of generalization concerning the dynamics of post-socialist development in Estonia.
