Abstract
Computer-aided detection or diagnosis (CAD) refers to the computerized detection and/or characterization of radiological abnormalities aimed at improving the diagnostic performance of radiologists, physicians, or surgeons with the help of the quantitative information provided by computerized analysis. The development of CAD in chest radiology has been recently accelerated by growing interest in lung cancer screening with low-dose CT as well as by increasing acquisition of volume data of the lungs due to the widespread use of multidetector-row CT scanners in routine clinical practice. In this review, we discuss the recent advancement of CAD in chest radiology. © 2008 The Japan Lung Cancer Society.
