Abstract

Soybeans are a high-demand crop, yet current production levels do not meet this demand. Edamame, a high-yield variety of soybean, offers a short growth period and high production. However, the current challenge is the insufficient soil fertility to support plant nutrition. This study conducted an analysis of the Nutrient Index Value (NIV) to provide preliminary information on soil conditions in the edamame development area of Bener Meriah Regency. A descriptive method was employed, involving field surveys and laboratory analysis. Soil samples were collected using purposive sampling from each land map unit (LMU). A total of 67 soil samples, composited from 29 LMUs, were analyzed for total nitrogen (N-total), total phosphorus (P-total), and total potassium (K-total). The results indicated that the NIV status falls into the medium category for N-total and P-total, and the low category for K-total.
