Abstract

A case is described of the accidental administration of halothane intravenously. Severe pulmonary oedema and right heart failure occurred. Hypoxaemia was marked and transient mild changes occurred in hepatic, renal and haemopoietic functions. Treatment was based on the administration of oxygen by positive pressure ventilation via an endotracheal tube, together with considerable additional medical therapy. © 1971 John Sherratt & Son Ltd.
