Abstract

Micro-screws (MSs) have gained rapid popularity among orthodontic specialists over the past decade. Subsequently, as general dental practitioners (GDPs) continue to provide general care for patients undergoing orthodontic treatment they are likely to encounter MSs. This article is aimed at GDPs and provides an overview of MS design, placement, removal and safety. Two examples of treated cases will also be used to demonstrate the use of MSs in contemporary orthodontic practice. © 2013 Macmillan Publishers Limited. All rights reserved.
