Abstract

Five new species of Smicridea McLachlan, 1971, are described and illustrated for specimens collected during entomological inventories in the states of Espirito Santo, Goias, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Parana (Brazil). Four of these new species belong to the subgenus Rhyacophyhylax Muller, 1879: S. (R.) froehlichi, S. (R.) jundiai, S. (R.) mangaratiba, S.(R.) ralphi, and one to the subgenus Smicridea McLachlan, 1871: S. (S.) mirnae.
