INFORMATION LITERACY IN FIGHTING DISINFORMATION IN PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATION: STATE OF ART

Abstract

Information literacy is considered the process of developing and improving relationships with the information ecosystem, fostering a critical view of the reality in which they are inserted. This competency involves skills such as identifying relevant information, critically evaluating information sources, organizing and effectively using information, as well as communication skills to share information with other individuals and/or groups. Disinformation includes distortion, omission of context, news bias, excess of information, among others. In this study, we aimed to carry out a research called "state of the art" with the purpose of surveying the work carried out so far on information literacy in combating misinformation in professional and technological education. The study is based on the productions published in the CAPES Journal Portal, in the Reference Database of Journal Articles in Information Science and in the Brazilian Library of Theses and Dissertations, until May 2023, on information literacy as a strategy for combat disinformation in Professional and Technological Education. It can be seen that the issue of competence in information and disinformation contemplated a significant number of works, but little was found when referring to this theme in Professional and Technological Education, which is a reason for further studies to be investigated in this area.
