Abstract

Seismic response of a site due to earthquake is influenced by earthquake, site, and structural characteristics. Earthquake characteristic includes amplitude (acceleration, velocity and displacement), duration, frequency content, and length of fault rupture. Response spectrum is maximum response of a single degree of freedom structure due to earthquake. This study aimed to investigate effect of earthquake frequency content, duration and amplitude on respon spectrum. The site on this study is Simpang Arengka Jl. Tuanku Tambusai Flyover. Earthquake ground motions with various frequency content, duration and amplitude were scaled to the site acceleration according to indonesian seismic map. Response spectrum analysis was performed using the STRATA software program. The results of this study conclude that the lower the earthquake frequency content, the higher the spectral acceleration value. The spectral acceleration value is the smallest if the earthquake recording is classified as a median short duration and median long duration, while the increasing the earthquake scale, the more the spectral acceleration value will increase.
