Abstract

nflammation and cancer are closely associated, and invasive cancers have been conceptualized as being linked to persistent pathogens with metabolic and immune adaptations that make them resistant to killing, starvation, or clearance by immune surveillance while growing and consuming host nutrients. While cancer can result in a chronic inflammation, the opposite is also true as inflammation can lead to cancer.
