Abstract

The article addresses the management of presidential records in Tanzania, noting the need for regulation of their preservation. Topics include the importance of U.S. presidential archives, the archival work of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, and the Founders of the National Centre, established by the 2004 Tanzanian law Founders of the Nation Act. The article uses a Grounded Theory approach to analyze the collection, regulatory framework, and accessibility of presidential archives in Tanzania. The development of Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation in Tanzania is encouraged.
