Abstract

Wind energy is a perfect and boundless energy source generally utilized as a working fluid for windmills for centuries. However, its use as a method for power supply started in the modern period because of the ascent of ecological concerns and fuel resources issues. The worldwide interest for economical and sustainable power source has made the need for a look into and the advancement of new innovation, Hence, the wind energy has been the focal point of the business and has extensively developed its utilization however just in an expansive scale generation. In recent years, there are a rise in more efficient, expensive and larger vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) appeared to create offshore and onshore wind turbine fields. This study aims at developing a portable H – rotor vertical axis wind turbine (H-VAWT) with modified blade geometry for electricity production for the household purpose, residential properties and less ideal economic conditions. The study will be carried out by performing the experimental and analytical calculations on fabricated model of modified blade geometry H-VAWT for power output at various wind velocities. By interpreting the results, the sustainability and the power rating of the modified blade geometry H-VAWT is stated.
