Isolation of New Metabolites from Aspergillus sydowi and Structure of Sydowic Acid

Abstract

Four new metabolites have been isolated from Aspergillus sydowi and named sydowic acid, sydowinin A, sydowinin B, and sydowinol, respectively. Sydowic acid, C15H2004, forms colorless needles, mp 151°C, [a]D-6.4°. Sydowinin A, ClsH120 S, forms pale yellow needles, mp 218-220°C. Sydowinin B, ClsH1207, forms yellow needles, mp 220°C. Sydowinol C16H14O7, forms yellow needles, mp 157-159°C, [a]D-51 The structure of sydowic acid was shown to be represented by formula I on the basis of spectroscopic data. © 1975 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
