Abstract

The article discusses the conformation of urban violence in the country and its central role in everyday perceptions and experiences of the population; and draws particularly on the case of the city of São Paulo. The category of urban violence is considered from its different perspectives, namely as representation and social problem as well as a growing interest in different fields of knowledge and intervention, especially in the field of public health
