Abstract

The article outlines the ideas of information analysts Paul Otlet and Julius Otto Kaiser about information analysis and compares the types of knowledge organization systems (KOSs) which they both develop. It explains the differences between the types of KOSs they both develop based on their views of information analysis. It notes that their perspectives of information analysis focus on the relationship between documents and knowledge. It explores the technological substructure for their views of information analysis, their perspectives of KO frameworks, and their notions on framework scope.
