Abstract

This paper reviews some of the current research on laterites, which constitute a vital but poorly understood interface between rocks and soils in tropical regions including IGCP Project 129, on lateritization processes. A refined definition and a new classification of laterite seems to be emerging and much work is under way on the geochemistry of laterization. -from Author
