Abstract

American chestnut seedlings were grown for three seasons in full sun or under a shade tent (65% shade) that was put in place each spring and removed each fall. Seedlings grown in the shade were larger, and fewer died from winter injury. Copyright © 2007 by the Society of American Foresters.
