Abstract

Sol-gel derived solid solution formation of the composition with x = 0.05 in the system (1-x)PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3-(x) BiFeO3 has been worked out. The effects of 5 % BFO substitution on dielectric properties of PZT have been studied. Single phase formation with tetragonal structure was confirmed by XRD. A dielectric anomaly, observed at 440°C, corresponds to the ferroelectric to paraelectric transition with peak maxima position is frequency independent. Confirmation of multiferroic magnetoelectric coupling from the anomaly observed around Neel temperature in dielectric plot. P-E hysteresis loop has shown almost saturated polarization. The FTIR spectrum shows the band corresponding Ti-O/Zr-O vibrations in BO 6 octahedra. © 2013 AIP Publishing LLC.
