Abstract

This editorial describes the important role of theory in research, since theory provides the frameworks and structure for inquiry. It also guides the design and interpretation of empirical and experimental studies and creates scenarios that allow researchers to understand and explain research results and findings. The text addresses the role of theory in research by distinguishing key concepts such as theoretical framework, conceptual framework, research background, and state of the art. It describes the function of theory and previous studies in research and highlights the importance of the theoretical framework within the research process.  En esta editorial se describe el importante papel que tiene la teoría en la investigación, ya que es la teoría, la que proporciona los marcos y la estructura de la investigación, además, guía el diseño y la interpretación de estudios empíricos y experimentales, y genera escenarios para que los investigadores puedan entender y explicar los resultados y hallazgos de la investigación. El escrito se aborda el papel de la teoría en la investigación, diferenciando conceptos clave como marco teórico, marco conceptual, antecedentes investigativos y estado del arte. Se describe la función de la teoría y los estudios previos en la investigación, y se destaca la importancia del marco teórico en la misma.
