Abstract

Our paper summarizes work carried out by the scientific committee "Society, Environment and Sustainable Development" (1999-2002), a programming instance of CNRS PEVS-2. We present its main scientific results, the structuring of scientific communities to which it contributed, and the institutional difficulties inherent in science policy dealing with the environment and sustainable development. © EDP Sciences, NSS-Dialogues 2011.
