MAKNA FILOSOFIS DAN SIMBOLIS SENI BETOK DI SUKABUMI: EKSPLORASI NILAI-NILAI BUDAYA DALAM SENI PERTUNJUKAN TRADISIONAL

Abstract

This research explores the philosophical and symbolic meanings of  the Betok Performing Arts in Sukabumi, depicting the rich cultural values embedded in this traditional performing art. This performing art has been present in Sukabumi for a long time, and its sustainability has been maintained from generation to generation. In its history, this performing art origi- nated from competitions to defend the state, then evolved into a traditional performing art that includes elements such as flying, kuda lumping, and integrates various entertainments like pencak silat and cador. The research method involves direct observation, interviews with artists and community figures, and analysis of the elements of the performing arts. The re- search  findings provide  new  insights  into  understanding  Betok  as  a  unique  cultural  per- forming art. The results of this research highlight the importance of Betok Art in preserv- ing cultural identity and provide suggestions for further preservation and development steps
