Abstract

The author considers that the experience of housing is closely related to an unconscious pattern: the "internal habitat". This pattern works as a synthesis of real body image and representations of the unconscious group and predisposes strongly family members to inter-subjectivity. The author focuses on the tracks made by affectivity and memory on objects, furniture and walls. The actions made by people in the house, and the moves induced by them in objects ("they play with its") enrich constantly the internal habitat. The author uses a personal experience made during his childhood to show a way to modify the image of his own home's representation. © De Boeck Université.
