Abstract

Q. LB15 .I565 2013 v.1 Q. LB15 .I565 2013 v.2 International Education: An Encyclopedia of Contemporary Issues and Systems is a two-volume work focused on detailing the correlation between educational structures worldwide and how human ingenuity and creativity impact it. Within this, the work seeks to answer fundamental questions about access to education, the influence of poverty on educational attainment, the gender gap, and child labor issues. The work is intended to be accessible to a wide readership, but will be most helpful as a reference tool for students interested in international education and the social sciences at the undergraduate and graduate levels, academic department personnel with an interest in tracking global changes in academic specializations, and educational administrators and practitioners. The work is divided into two sections. Section I examines a variety of topics related to international education. These include sociopolitical and cultural issues, issues of gender, topics in formal and informal education, curricular issues, intellectual and motor skill development, technology, and educational institutions. The second section examines educational systems around the globe, organized by continent and country. Following the main text are a glossary and index. Bibliographic references are included throughout the work.
