Abstract
Self-medication is self-medication without the help of a doctor's prescription. Influenza is spread through the air by coughing or sneezing, which creates aerosols containing the virus. Many self-medication activities are carried out by the community, one of the diseases that can be treated independently is influenza. Self-medication can be beneficial if done correctly, because it can assist the government in providing health services; however, it can be dangerous if people believe that self-medication can be done for every disease and if people know information that supports treatment, such as being able to know the symptoms of the disease well and choose drugs according to the indications and the right use. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the level of self-medication knowledge of influenza drugs in the Telaga Pasiraya Housing Society, Block F, RT.005 RW.011, Sukasari Village, Serang Baru District, Bekasi Regency. This type of research is an observational study using a quantitative descriptive method, using a measuring instrument questionnaire. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling method which met the inclusive and exclusion criteria of 72 respondents. The results of the study showed that based on gender, the most common were men with a frequency of 42 respondents (58.3%), the most age was 17-25 years with a frequency of 24 respondents (33.3%), the most education namely high school with a frequency of 28 respondents (38.9%), and for drug information sources that are often used, namely through advertisements, print or electronic media with a frequency of 69 respondents (95.8%). The frequency of respondents according to the level of knowledge of the community in that environment is said to be good with a frequency of 42 respondents (58%). The conclusion from this study is that the level of knowledge on self-medication for influenza among the people of Telaga Pasiraya Housing Block F RT.005 RW.011 Sukasari Village, Serang Baru District, Bekasi Regency belongs to the level of knowledge in the good category, meaning that they already have knowledge about self-medication for influenza.
