Abstract

We observed different frequencies of the magnetization precession within GHz-THz range in Co-substituted yttrium iron garnet films by exciting linearly polarized femtosecond pulses. The photomagnetic effect can be useful for non-thermally controlling of spin systems and ultrafast switching in magnetic devices.
