The reaction of dicyclopentadienyl 1,2-diethylidenecyclobutane-zirconium complex I with phenylbismuth dibromide (phenylpniceogen dihalide) did not give the expected bismole II but instead gave 1,2,5,6-tetramethyltricyclo[8.2.0.04,7]dodeca-1,3,7,9-tetraene (III).
