Abstract
Hedayati et al. document a 26.5% incidence of clinical depression and a strong association between depression and hospitalizations and mortality in hemodialysis patients. We can no longer ignore the impact of depression on end-stage renal disease patients. Appropriate therapeutic regimens and trials need to be explored. © 2008 International Society of Nephrology.
