Abstract

The Pannonian and Danube Delta populations of Triturus dobrogicus are well separated morphologically from each other. We recognize two subspecies of the Danube crested newt. The nominotypic subspecies inhabits the Danube Delta. Triturus dobrogicus macrosomus (Boulenger, 1908), comb. and stat. nov., occurs in the remaining part of the species' range. version header
