Abstract
For linearized hydrostatic waves on a spherical earth with a zonal mean wind which is a function of latitude and pressure, expressions are derived for the vertical and meridional energy fluxes in terms of the meridonal heat flux and the vertical and meridion fluxes of zonal momentum. It is proved that in the absence of critical surfaces, dissipation, thermal heating and nonharmonic time dependence. It is proved the waves and mean flow do not interact.
