Abstract

This essay aims to investigate two ergodic novels as a representation of literature after postmodernism. More specifically, it will address non-linear novels, extending beyond the boundaries of the text and becoming highly complex, as representative of a new phase, namely metamodernity. The examples taken into account are House of Leaves (2000) by Mark Z. Danielewski and S. Ship of Theseus (2013) by J.J. Abrams and D. Dorst.
