Abstract

The electrical resistivity method is one of the most useful techniques in groundwater hydrology exploration because the resistivity of a rock is very sensitive to its water content. In turn, the resistivity of water is very sensitive to its ionic content. In general, it is able to map different stratigraphic units in a geologic section as long as the units have a resistivity contrast. Often this is connected to rock porosity and fraction of water saturation of the pore spaces.
