Abstract

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the European Union (EU) was one of the first European policies introduced at a time when the events of World War II and its devastating consequences were still fresh in everyone's mind. This chapter analyzes the CAP's main objectives, instruments, and outcomes. It also examines its evolution over time. The discussion focuses on core issues related to the CAP, such as pressures for reform, reasons for resistance to change, and ongoing debates.
