Abstract
A method based on the use of a 1n cosh cylinder coordinate system is proposed to solve the problem of coarsening of an array of faulted lamellar plates. if the dominant coarsening mode is diffusion through the continuous phase the lamellar faults will shrink at a constant velocity with the continuous lamellae thickening at their expense. The initial rate of shrinkage is proportional to the density of faults and inversely proportional to the square of the lamellar spacing. The results are in qualitative agreement with the observations of L. D. Graham and R. W. Kraft on the Al-CuAl//2 eutectic system.
