Abstract

Helicopter emergency rescue plays an important role in the systemof aviation emergency rescue. Regular training for helicopter emergency rescue mission is difficult to be carried out because of the dangerous environment and high cost. However, simulation based training is the essential means to improve the operating ability of helicopter emergency rescue team. A virtual training environment calledHelicopter Emergency Rescue MissionTraining System (HERMTS) was designed and developed forhelicopter emergency rescue training. Anevaluation model based on Kirkpatrick’s model was established to evaluatethe training effectiveness. The training effectiveness was described by mission effectiveness matrix. The results showed that trainees made positive comments on HERMTSand the HERMTSwas effective to promote their capacity of forest firefighting mission.
