Abstract

There are currently many applications that companies have accumulated over the years to leverage the operation of their businesses, however, over the years these applications have fallen into obsolescence. Most of these applications have been built following a monolith architectural style. With today's great technological advances and for companies to remain competitive, many of these applications need to be migrated and/or modernized to take advantage of current technologies. The process of migrating from a monolithic application to a microservice is a challenging process and there are few reported successful experiences. The objective of this paper is to contribute to the findings of problems and challenges reported in scientific literature, that companies have faced when migrating a monolithic application to a microservices architecture.
