Abstract

We present a study of reasoning methods in Case-Based Reasoning, which can be applied for the communication system fault domain. Inspired by the reasoning approach of the experts in medical diagnosis, we propose a probabilistic reasoning method which comprises two processes: a ranking process restricting the scope of a problem and a selection process finding promising solutions for the problem. We experimentally evaluate this method and draw lessons from the results to improve it. © 2008 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
