Abstract
Aim: To explore the impact of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis (AD) on women’s reproductive health, focusing on fertility, pregnancy, and treatment considerations during hormonal fluctuations. Methods: We reviewed current evidence from clinical and immunological studies on reproductive-aged women with psoriasis and AD, emphasizing fertility outcomes, pregnancy course, and therapeutic safety. Results: Psoriasis may affect fertility through comorbidities, chronic inflammation, and reduced ovarian reserve or sexual activity. During pregnancy, many women experience improvement in psoriasis, although moderate-to-severe cases remain at risk for complications, with limited safe treatment options due to uncertain drug safety profiles. In contrast, AD frequently worsens during pregnancy because of hormone-driven immune shifts, creating a demand for safe and effective therapies. Conclusions: Psoriasis and AD present distinct challenges for women during their reproductive years. Understanding immunological changes and developing tailored management strategies are crucial for optimizing outcomes in fertility and pregnancy.
