Abstract

Photoelectrochemical biosensors developed from solar cells have received increasing attention due to their desirable sensitivity and better analytical performance. In recent decades, much attention has been paid to the preparation of photoelectrochemical biosensors. This paper aims to provide an overview on the development of photosensitizers, including the sensing principle of photoelectrochemical biosensors and a special kind of photoelectrochemical biosensor without external irradiation. The latest developments and applications are also included. © 2013 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
