Abstract

Mental health is one of the most neglected categories of illness in the health sector. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated this condition. Jakarta Provincial Health Office has also highlighted the mental health condition among Jakarta residents both before and during the pandemic through the high number of cases of severe mental disorders in Jakarta. Research on the factors affecting the mental health of Jakarta residents during the COVID-19 pandemic is still limited. This study uses a quantitative approach. This study uses Partial Least Square (PLS) path modeling as an analytical method by using smartPLS software. The study aims to identify the factors of mental health in Jakarta during the COVID-19 pandemic based on urban public health determinants. Three determinants of urban public health are positively related to the mental health of Jakarta residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. The result shows that the social determinant, represented by a healthy lifestyle, contributed significantly to the mental health of Jakarta residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by the economic determinant, represented by healthy food consumption, and the built environment/infrastructure determinant, represented by the provision of green open spaces.
