Psicologia e políticas públicas em hiv/aids: Algumas reflexões

Abstract

The AIDS epidemic is considered a phenomenon of large proportions and for its character and severity pandemic represents a major public health problem and would require public policies more humane and efficient. Psychology, considering the subjectivity and ethical principles related to human rights, appears as the key agent in developing effective public policies in the context of AIDS. This study intends to rise up a discussion about the inclusion of psychology in this field and what can be done to promote a reflection on the part of (the) psychologists (as) about their practices, allowing for new perspectives and interventions. On this purpose, we performed a nonsystematic literature review on the subject. From this, it was concluded that psychology can play a relevant role in the development and implementation of public policies on HIV/AIDS and act beyond a healthcare practice that contributes to the promotion of human rights and citizenship.
