Abstract

In a previous article it was shown that the most common injuries in older dancers concern the foot and the knee: hallux rigidus, hallux valgus, and patellofemo-ral osteoarthritis. It is demonstrated how these injuries are related to compensation of insufficient turnout of the hips. Suggestions are made for prevention, both in older and younger dancers, by taking advantage of the experience and artistic qualities of aging dancers and teachers.
