Abstract

We report the case of 63-year-old woman, on haemodyalisis with emphysematous cystitis. She was a diabetic patient. She complained of urinary symptoms and pneumaturia, but without fever. Urine culture showed growth of Klebsiella pneumonia. A computed tomography scan was suggestive of emphysematous cystitis. Emphysematous cystitis is a rare clinically entity, predisposing factor include diabetes mellitus and end stage renal disease. A conservative treatment approach using antibiotic therapy, bladder catheterization and strict glycemic control is generally successful.
