Covid-19 Pandemisinde Toplumun Beslenme Alışkanlıkların İncelenmesi: İstanbul Örneği

Abstract

Aim: In this study; it was aimed to evaluate the nutritional habits of the society in the Covid-19 pandemic. Material and Methods: The study included 384 adults living in Istanbul, accepting to participate in the research, literate, answering the questions completely, and between the ages of 18-65. Datas; Before and after the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of main and snacks, change in body weight, packaged food consumption, sleep, exercise and stress status were obtained with a questionnaire questioning information. Chi-square, Wilcoxon Test and multiple logistic regression analysis were used to evaluate the data. Results: The average age of the individuals participating in the study was 28.18 ± 7.13, their average body weight was 63.66 ± 13.49, and their average height was calculated as 165.58 ± 7.60. During the pandemic period, 46.9% of the individuals stated that their body weight increased, 51% of them had a negative impact on their eating habits. During the Covid-19 epidemic period, it was determined olathat the rate of individuals who slept more than 8 hours increased from 16.2% to 35.4%, 46.1% decreased their physical activity level, and 80.2% experienced stress and anxiety. In addition, it has been determined that 74.2% of those who experience stress and anxiety affect their eating habits. A statistically significant relationship was found between the change in eating habits and the change in body weight, packaged food consumption, home order, tea and coffee consumption, physical activity level and the effect of stress and anxiety on eating habits. It was determined that the change in body weight in the Covid 19 pandemic was affected by the consumption of packaged food and the level of physical activity in the pandemic (p<0.001). Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was determined that the eating habits of half of the participants during the pandemic period were negatively affected, their sleep duration increased, their physical activity level decreased, and most of them experienced stress and anxiety.
